Since their creation in 2021, Advance CTE has utilized Brave Dialogues and Opportunity Gap Analysis resources to help state CTE leaders enhance their team's ability to lead learner-centered and data-informed discussions with state and local practitioners. Ideal for beginner to intermediate-level participants, attendees will become familiar with the components of both tools and how to maximize their application through self-facilitation or tailored technical assistance opportunities. State leaders from Colorado will also share their journey using both tools to conduct system-level assessments and strategic planning. Join us for this workshop and learn how to support facilitating brave and data-informed conversations to improve learner access to high-demand, high-wage CTE fields.
Learning objectives:
  • Develop an understanding of one's identity, values, assumptions, and biases, and recognize their potential impact on others.
  • Gain an introduction to the awareness and knowledge components of the Brave Dialogues curriculum and framework, focusing on critical self-reflection and effective policy and practice.
  • Learn about the opportunity gap analysis tools and processes that your state can utilize to inform data-driven decision-making, aimed at increasing participation of Perkins V special populations and sub-groups in non-traditional fields.
  • Explore the latest program-specific cohorts of the Opportunity Gap Analysis, such as Work-Based Learning (WBL), Apprenticeship, and Credentials of Value.
  • Elevate stories and outcomes from state(s) that have previously participated in both Brave Dialogues and Opportunity Gap Analysis.
