About me
Marcette Kilgore, M.Ed., serves as the statewide Director of Career and Technical Education for the Texas Education Agency. She earned her bachelor's degree at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and her master's from the University of South Florida. As a 30-year educator, she has served as a CTE teacher and administrator in central Florida for ten years and for the last 20 years as a secondary school administrator in Texas in Clear Creek, Pearland, and Pasadena ISDs as well as with the Texas Education Agency. She has served in the roles of Assistant Principal, Dean of Instruction, Director of Human Resources, Associate Principal, and CTE Coordinator. She has had the opportunity to open new campuses as a CTE teacher, CTE campus administrator, district administrator, and has been honored to serve in the role of statewide Director of Career and Technical Education with TEA for the last two years. Her current position has an intentional focus on TEA's vision of "Every child, prepared for success in college, a career or the military." Her workstreams include promoting high-quality CTE Programs of Study to connect high school to career and college; ensuring all students have access to earn relevant, stackable credentials, particularly industry-based certifications; collaborating with THECB and Texas Workforce Commission to align workforce strategies; working in partnership with industry stakeholders to connect students to work-based learning experiences, and overseeing Carl D. Perkins Strengthening Career and Technical Education grants.
